Courses on Sustainability for the student community

UniGe provides students with "The 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals" mini course (3h) developed by the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASviS), available both in Italian and in English.

UniGe also offers the opportunity to access the UniGe Sustainability Course (designed as a Pilot Lesson), within the Citizenship Training Modules to all students enrolled in the University's undergraduate, master's and PhD programs. The course addresses sustainability by considering a multiplicity of aspects, in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The different topics are covered by 13 UniGe lecturers from various disciplines, who provide interesting insights in a series of short slots, recorded thanks to the support of UniGe e-learning, multimedia and web tools service.

The course is available online in the second semester of each academic year.

The course syllabus can be viewed here

The course presentation can be viewed here.

To enrol, students must first add the UniGe Sustainability Course to their Study Plan (instructions are available on the Online Student Services portal at the following link, or you may request support from your Student Services Office). They must then complete the enrolment on the course page on Aulaweb (see the link below for the current academic year).

Passing the final test allows students to obtain 1 additional ECTS credit registered in the Diploma Supplement, as well as a UniGe Open Badge. In some cases, the credit may instead be recognised as a curricular ECTS credit (usually within the category of “other activities”) where this is considered relevant to achieving the learning objectives of the degree programme (subject to a request submitted by email to the Student Services Offices and approval by the relevant degree programme).

The Postgraduate Course in "Designing the Smart City," at the Department of Economics - DIEC, in collaboration with the Genoa Smart City Association, has been active for several years, while the Postgraduate Course in "Smart and Sustainable Mobility, " by the Italian Center of Excellence on Logistics Transport and Infrastructure was activated in 2024.
