Energy

Aware of the importance of energy sustainability, the University of Genoa established a working group on energy saving several years ago, led by the Rector's Delegate for Energy, Federico Silvestro, and including the University's Energy Manager, Giada Agnese.

Since 2019, UniGe has been using certified electricity from renewable sources, thus meeting its entire annual electricity needs and avoiding the emission of more than 9,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.

UniGe is also committed to the production of renewable energy, with photovoltaic systems at some of its locations in Genoa and at the Savona Campus.

The Savona Campus, in particular, has been the subject of a major experimental project, the Energy 2020 Project, which represents an important and innovative demonstration initiative in the field of sustainable energy (renewable sources, energy saving, and CO2 emission reduction), carried out in a totally public partnership.
