UniGe is also committed to the installation of photovoltaic systems for the production of renewable energy.
At the Genoa sites there are two systems:
- Corso Dogali, a system realized with the III Conto Energia active since 2011 with a nominal installed power of 5.52 kW distributed on 47 square meters of panels and an expected annual production of about 5,616 kWh
- Department of Economics in Darsena, an experimental microgrid composed of a photovoltaic system with peak power equal to 20 kW and a lithium-ion storage system. The microgrid is constantly monitored and controlled remotely, which makes it possible to define battery charging/discharging parameters and monitor the energy produced by the photovoltaic system
At the Savona Campus there are three systems:
- two solar photovoltaic systems of about 80 and 15 kW are installed on the Dolphin Building, capable of producing more than 114,000 kWh annually
- on the Smart Energy Building a third facility is installed, characterized by a peak power of about 21 KWp and 85 modules covering a total area of 140 square meters. The system is able to cover about 80% of the building's demand with an estimated annual production of about 26000 kWh.
