UniGe promotes inclusion, equal opportunities and the well-being of its academic community, with the implementation of actions aimed at counteracting all forms of discrimination involving those who study and work at the University, offering services in direct support of the individual and promoting work-life balance. Specific information on the services offered is available in the sections of the University website dedicated to inclusion, welfare, university benefits for study, services for people with Disabilities and DSA (student community and staff) and on the websites of the Equal Opportunities Committee, the Single Committee of Guarantee (Comitato Unico di garanzia CUG).

The commitment to promoting policies that foster the development of an inclusive social context, where there is attention to inequality and protection of people's well-being, is also evidenced by the participation in the Inclusion and Social Justice Working Group of the RUS (Rete delle Università per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile)- Network of Universities for Sustainable Development, in which there are several UniGe referents

Attention to the well-being and development of the individual is also evidenced by the activities of UniGeSenior, which offers quality courses and a wide range of cultural activities for people belonging to the so-called third age, and by the activities of the University Prison Pole (PUP), through which UniGe carries out its social and educational role also with people in prison.

Social sustainability topics are also the focus of many of the University's teaching and research activities and initiatives and events aimed at the local area.
