At the request of Prof. Serena Cattari, from 22 to 26 September 2025, there will be the 2025 edition of the International "PhD Autumn School in Security, Risk and Vulnerability: Insights from the RETURN project", held in Sestri Levante, in the old Convent of the Annunziata, funded by the extended partnership RETURN- multi-Risk sciEnce for resilienT commUnities undeR a changiNg climate.

The ERASMUS+ Project “SocioEcoHoods ”Teaching for the Socio-Ecological Transformation of Neighborhoods: An Inter- and Transdisciplinary Approach" (2024-2-LI01-KA220-HED-000286798) includes two preliminary activities (webinars) in September 2025 and an in-person workshop from October 13-17, 2025 in Münster.


SEAGUL (Socio Economic Empowerment of Urban Landscape), an innovative digital platform, which the technological core has been entirely elaborated and developed by a team of UniGe researchers and professors, has been presented on July 8, 2025 in Genoa, at a seminar, organized by ISTAT in collaboration with the Municipality, entitled "Socio-economic conditions of cities and their suburbs. Data and cartograms from the City of Genoa."


To fight the effects of excessive heat, the “Summer Safe” program is active in Genoa, dedicated to citizens to prevent and limit possible health damage during the summer period. 
In fact, the city of Genoa is among the 27 cities for which Heat Waves are expected.

With the second place in the "energy" category, the speed record and special award Eco-conception, the UniGe's team stood out at the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2025, held at the prestigious Pricipality of Monaco's Yatch Club between the first and the sixth of july.


Throughout the second semester of the 24/25 academic year, the Italian Secretary of Medical Students (SISM) offered the opportunity for twenty people registered with the association to participate in a 20-hour training course concerning Italian Sign Language (LIS).


The Italian Center of Excellence on Logistics, Transport and Infrastructure - CIELI at the University of Genoa has been successful in winning a funding within the SBEP - Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership program, which focuses on the development of collaborative activities between institutions from 30 partner countries to pool investments in research and innovation and align national programs at a pan-European scale.


The University of Genoa's effort towards sustainable mobilty choices continues thanks to the framework agreement between UniGe and Elettra Car Sharing.

The convention, held at the University of Genoa, June 16-18, 2025, was attended by over 400 delegates. For the occasion, a childcare activity dedicated to the participants' children was organized for the first time in its 90-year history.


Syria Vannini and Luca Brusasco from IANUA High School with a major in Sustainability Science and Technology participated in the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly 2025, a significant international event held in Vienna from April 27 to May 2, 2025.


It's been activeted for the year 2024/2025 the advanced course of "right of sustainable development" - I edition organized with the collaboration of the research center "sustainibility and rights", established by the department of political and international studies of Genova.

The European project PLASTRON, funded by the Interreg Italy-France Maritime Program 2021-2027, comes to Stintino with the aim of revolutionizing the reuse of plastics recovered from the sea. This aims to promote the circular economy and resilience of tourism businesses through additive manufacturing, turning marine waste into new resources.


The ENRICHER project addresses the European Green Deal priority, with a focus on sustainable economic growth and sustainable products and services, contributing to two priorities of the call: the misalignment between higher education institutions (HEIs) and the labor market and the need for new green service concepts that improve sustainability.

The ninth Festival of Sustainable Development 2025, a national initiative organized by the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASviS) to raise awareness and mobilize citizens, younger generations, businesses, associations and institutions on issues of economic, social and environmental sustainability, will be held from May 7 to 23.

Start of the tour of Italy of the "Genova Mare Film Lab"!

It starts from the University of Genoa the fifth of may with 20 students that won the call to partcipate at this free  course-laboratory about the cinema and the sea.


The brown algae marine forest, especially of the Cystoesira compex, is the most valuable and underated habitat of the Mediterranean sea. They play an important role for the marine biodiversity, giving shelter and nourishment to a lot of species: however, marine forests are rapidly disapearing thanks to the anthropic impact and to the climatic crisis. 


The Ministry of University and Research (MUR) has provided more than 1 million euros in funding for the LOOP project: Fluoride Recovery from Persistent Fluoroalkyl Pollutants with Tandem Solar Paints.
