Mobility

The University of Genoa has been committed to the issue of sustainable mobility for several years, also through the promotion of actions aimed at creating meaningful changes in our daily lives.

The presence of a dedicated figure, the University Mobility Manager, Prof.ssa Ilaria Delponte, plays a key role in coordinating the numerous initiatives needed to foster a shift in the habits of the academic community and to encourage best practices.

UniGe has adopted a University Home-to-Campus Travel Plan (Piano Spostamento Casa-Università, PSCU), with the first version drafted in 2022 (read here) and updated in 2024 (read here). The 2024 PSCU not only presents the results of the surveys and a very positive assessment of completed and ongoing actions outlined in the 2022 plan, but also outlines a set of 10 new initiatives for the next two years. These initiatives cover all areas of intervention: promotion of local public transport, discouragement of private car use, reduction of mobility demand, and support for cycling and walking.

UniGe’s participation in the Mobility Working Group of the RUS – Network of Universities for Sustainability, represented by Prof. Francesca Pirlone, is an additional opportunity for the University to grow and engage in meaningful exchange.
