Sustainability in mandatory courses

The academic community, including students and staff, is required to follow mandatory courses, in accordance with current regulations or by the decision of the University Governance.

Environmental and social sustainability topics are included in some of these mandatory courses, particularly: 

Course for New Hires 

This course is mandatory for permanent and fixed-term staff hired in 2024 and is designed to help new personnel integrate as effectively as possible by providing an overview of the activities carried out by the University, identifying the organizational tools, roles within the organisation, and the resulting responsibilities, understanding and sharing the University’s values and organizational culture, and ensuring that all behaviours comply with the University’s ethical and cultural values.

The course lasts 20 hours and is divided into 5 modules, each split into 2 sections of 2 hours. One full module (Module 5), lasting 4 hours, is dedicated to aspects of social sustainability:

Module 5. Workplace Safety, Organizational Well-being, Inclusion (4h)

  • Workplace safety, organizational well-being, and inclusion
  • Gender language and gender-based violence Mandatory 

Course on Weather-Hydrological Risk Alerts

This course is mandatory for all staff and students, lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes. For students, it is delivered online as a standalone module. For staff the course is included as a module (Module 4) within the mandatory training course on occupational health and safety:
