UniGe participates in the “Biodiversity on Campus” photography competition

UniGe is participating in the Global Photo Contest “Biodiversity on Campus,” an initiative promoted by ISCN - International Sustainable Campus Network, of which our university is a partner.

The aim of the contest is to invite participants to observe and describe the biodiversity present in university spaces through photography, creating a collection of images that show the variety of life forms that populate university campuses around the world and describe nature in its everyday context, as experienced and observed by students, staff, and visitors.

Photographs that clearly show the campus context, relating the natural environment, built spaces, and human presence, are eligible. Participants are invited to submit an image representing an element of biodiversity—structures, plants, habitats, or living beings—accompanied by some descriptive information that helps to give meaning to the shot.

The winning photographs will be selected by an international jury composed of students and staff from ISCN member institutions. The winning entries will be included in traveling exhibitions throughout 2026, hosted on participating university campuses. The exhibition will open at the ISCN Conference 2026, scheduled to take place in Cape Town from April 21 to 23, 2026.

Global Photo Contest

The project, promoted within the global ISCN network, is part of a broader awareness campaign that encourages people to observe carefully, marvel, and capture a unique moment in a photograph, as a positive and regenerative contribution to university life. Together, images and words help to create engaging narratives that stimulate reflection and action towards a more resilient future.
