Eighty Years Since Women First Voted in Italy

On Tuesday, April 28th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, an event titled “Eighty Years Since the First Vote of Women in Italy: History, Achievements, and Challenges of Parity Democracy” will be held in the Aula Magna of Via Balbi 5. The event has been organised to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the first time women voted in Italy.

The initiative, organized by the Department of Law, under the patronage of the University Committee for Equal Opportunities and in collaboration with Zonta Club Genoa, the Association for Gender Legal Studies, and About Gender, represents an important opportunity to analyze the historical path that led to the recognition of women’s political rights, as well as to reflect on the still open challenges related to equality and representation. It will provide a moment of dialogue between institutions and academia.
