Sustainable Sport: Social Impact and Environmental Protection, Two Sides of the Same Coin

The Forum Compraverde Buygreen is Italy’s leading event dedicated to Green Public Procurement (GPP) and public policies for sustainability.

Today, in the midst of Europe’s ecological transition, public procurement is playing an increasingly strategic role: shaping markets, supporting innovative industrial supply chains, accelerating decarbonization, and promoting more resilient and competitive development models.

For its twentieth edition, Forum Compraverde Buygreen places this transformation at the center of its agenda through two days of meetings, conferences, workshops, training sessions, and networking opportunities dedicated to the future of sustainable public procurement.

On Wednesday, May 27th, the conference "Sustainable Sport: Social Impact and Environmental Protection, Two Sides of the Same Coin" will be held in the Pinchera Hall.

Sport is not only about practice and competition: it is a social, economic, and territorial infrastructure with increasingly significant environmental and social impacts. The conference offers an integrated perspective on the relationship between sport, the environment, and social impact, bringing together institutions, sports organizations, and stakeholders from across the sector. Alongside efforts to reduce environmental impacts, the focus will be on the role of sport as a driver of inclusion, well-being, and social cohesion, capable of generating value for communities.

The University of Genoa will participate in the event through a presentation by our Vice Rector for Sustainability, Adriana Del Borghi.
