Childcare at the SIS 2025 conference: an initiative to reconcile family and research.

The convention, held at the University of Genoa, June 16-18, 2025, was attended by over 400 delegates. For the occasion, a childcare activity dedicated to the participants' children was organized for the first time in its 90-year history.

The project was planned and organized by statistics faculty members belonging to the Department of Mathematics- DIMA and the Department of International Political Science- DiSPI. Its implementation was possible thanks to Fondazione CariGe which fully financed the activity and the administrative staff of DiSPI who managed the accounting part.

This pilot experience was received with great pleasure by the participants, who saw the proposal as a valuable support tool. SIS President Marcello Chiodi intends to propose the organization of childcare services to local organizers of future SIS annual conferences.

Special thanks to the staff of the Eduteca, who took care of the entertainment of the youngest children (ages 1 to 6), and to the staff from the Museum Educational Association, who accompanied the older ones to discover the city's attractions.
