On 29 October 2025, the final event of the Smart Cup Liguria and Start Cup Unige 2025 competition took place, with three projects receiving awards for UniGe:

• ReGenEra: develops a regenerative aquaculture model with Mediterranean macroalgae in IMTA systems. It produces premium algal biomass for food, nutraceuticals and cosmetics, with a short supply chain and integrated R&D. It promotes a sustainable and nature-based Italian blue economy.
• Ristowai: a SaaS platform created by restaurateurs with tech experts. Simple and evolving AI modules optimise shifts, costs, HR and marketing. Each restaurant chooses what it needs, with extras such as POS AI Suggestion and consulting, to reduce costs and regain time and margins.
• Dockside: is the app that simplifies navigation for boaters: it geolocates Coast Guard regulations and translates complex rules into clear instructions. You will always know how to behave, respecting limits, protected areas and restrictions.

RegenEra also won the Filse award for best project in the Cleantech Energy category and will participate in the national competition PNI - National Innovation Award 2025 to be held in Ferrara in December 2025.
