The University of Genoa has seen its commitment to sustainability recognized, recording significant progress in the QS World University Rankings 2026 for the Sustainability section, dedicated to environmental and social sustainability aspects.
Globally, UniGe ranked 322nd in the 2026 rankings (+135 positions compared to the previous year), out of 2002 participating universities from 108 countries, while at European level it ranked 156th (up from 205th in 2025) out of 621 European universities evaluated. At the national level, UniGe confirmed a respectable 14th place out of 57 participating Italian universities. The University's overall score in the QS Sustainability Ranking 2026 is 76.6/100. It is important to note that the improvement concerned all areas assessed by QS, both at the macro level (pillars) and at the specific level (lenses).
In particular, the best result was recorded in the Environmental Impact category, comprising the sub-themes Environmental education, Environmental research, and Environmental sustainability, in which UniGe ranks 306th in the global ranking and 11th in Italy.
An improvement in performance was also recorded for the Social Impact category (387th place globally and 16th place nationally), which includes many aspects, from those relating to inclusion and equity policies to issues of well-being and training, and Governance (483rd place worldwide and 19th place nationally).
