Genova Blue District presents the Genoa Climate Challenge 2026 Hackathon, a contest on climate change with the aim of generating innovative, concrete, and feasible solutions for climate mitigation and adaptation.
There are many issues to be addressed: from rising temperatures and heat waves to hydrogeological instability and flooding, from sea level rise to biodiversity loss, from climate neutrality in energy consumption and production to health and nutrition.
In February 2026, an in-depth academy will be launched, providing an opportunity to explore the challenges of the contest and interact with experts through face-to-face meetings and access to multimedia resources. Participation in the academy is open, free of charge, and not mandatory for the Hackathon.
Participants will be asked to submit proposals related to these issues, focusing on:
- innovative ways of communicating climate change
- innovative, viable, and technological solutions
- innovative and achievable activities within the reach of citizens and local communities.
Participation is individual and open to adults from all over Italy.
Registration is now open and will close on March 15, 2026.
The Hackathon will take place on March 21 and 22, 2026, at the Genova Blue District.
At the end of the contest, a cash prize of €5,000 will be awarded for each of the three challenges identified.
Further information, rules, and registration forms are available on the Hackathon's website.
