EcoeFISHent, the Horizon 2020 – Green Deal project focused on the circular economy in the fisheries sector, organized a visit to the Area Marina Protetta di Portofino in collaboration with ProPlast, which enabled the sorting of ghost fishing nets according to their type of plastic.

It was necessary to analyze the nets and fishing gear collected from the sea and seized by the authorities. Using specialized portable NIR equipment, each net was identified and sorted by material. A crucial step toward recycling!
