Green Everywhere

Genoa launches its first Biodiversity Festival from May 22nd to 24th, 2026, a three-day event dedicated to the relationship between nature, urban life, and sustainability.

This year’s edition, “Green Everywhere” (“Verde ovunque”), features events, workshops, and roundtable discussions at the University of Genoa Botanical Garden, celebrating the city’s natural heritage and encouraging reflection on its role in everyday life.

The opening day, Friday, May 22nd, 2026, coincides with the International Day for Biological Diversity and begins with a morning program for schools, followed by the official inauguration. In the afternoon, the roundtable discussion “Green, a Common Good” will bring together leading environmental associations to strengthen an increasingly cohesive local network.

On Saturday, May 23rd and Sunday, May 24th, 2026, the festival program will come to life with guided tours, hands-on workshops for all ages and guided experiences to learn about rare species and discover the hidden biodiversity. A special focus will be dedicated to the Blooming Urban Meadows (Prati Urbani Fioriti) Project, which promotes the natural management of selected urban green spaces to support spontaneous biodiversity. The project will highlight the Maestri del Lavoro Gardens, a concrete example of urban reforestation managed by Aster.

The initiative is organized by the University of Genoa, through its Hanbury Botanical Gardens Service Centre, together with the Amici dell’Orto Botanico Association, in collaboration with the Museum Education Association (Associazione Didattica Museale) and Aster, under the patronage of the Municipality of Genoa and Orticolario. The aim is to promote biodiversity, sustainability, and the enhancement of urban green spaces.

The festival also involves associations, local community organizations, and experts from various fields, fostering a culture that views green spaces as a common good and as places where environment, health, and community come together.

The full schedule of events is available in the Green Everywhere program (see attached document).

All events are open to the public but have limited capacity. Admission is free, with mandatory registration through Eventbrite.
