To celebrate the Women in Mathematics Day, a national initiative to promote diversity in Mathematics and to overcome gender stereotypes. The initiative is organized by the Committee for Diversity, Inclusion and Equality of the Italian Mathematical Union, two events will be held at the Department of Mathematics (Via Dodecaneso 35):
- Thursday, May 14, 4:00–5:30 PM - (“Girls are Unsuitable for Mathematics”: some educational insights to debunk a common myth) with Chiara De Fabritiis, Professor of Geometry at the Polytechnic University of Marche and coordinator of the Committee for Diversity, Inclusion and Equality of the Italian Mathematical Union.
Free registration via forms.office.com - Friday, May 15, 9:00 AM–1:00 PM - A series of outreach activities, workshops, and discussion sessions dedicated to schools. The topics connect mathematics, research, and innovation: from mathematical models applied to the human body to artificial intelligence, as well as games and puzzles presented by students of the Master’s Degree in Mathematics at the University of Genoa.
