Regional Forum for Sustainable Development - Sustainability in the Urban Setting

The University of Genoa (UniGe) will take part in the 8th Regional Forum for Sustainable Development, which will be held on Thursday, May 21st at the Aula San Salvatore, Piazza Sarzano, Genoa. The event will focus on “Urban Sustainability”, with a particular emphasis on Goal 11 of the 2030 Agenda – Sustainable Cities and Communities.

The event will be divided into two sessions:

  • In the morning session, after institutional greetings from the Region and an intervention by the Director General for the Environment, a presentation of the report on the implementation of Goal 11 by ASviS will follow. The morning will continue with a roundtable discussion presenting ongoing initiatives from the various departments of the Liguria Region.
  • The afternoon session will focus on design experiences for sustainable cities and will be dedicated in particular to public administration technicians and professionals. The University of Genoa will be represented by Adriano Magliocco, Director of the Department of Architecture and Design (DAD), with a talk entitled “Decarbonization between mitigation and adaptation: goal and process”, and by Ilaria Delponte, University Mobility Manager and lecturer at the Department of Civil, Chemical and Environmental Engineering (DICCA), with a talk entitled “Sustainable mobility: practical cases in Liguria”.

It is part of the National Sustainable Development Festival 2026, promoted by ASviS – Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development, and organized by the Sustainable Development and Environment Office of the General Directorate of the Liguria Region, in collaboration with Liguria Ricerche, the University of Genoa, and the Foundation of the Order of Architects of Genoa.
