Syria Vannini and Luca Brusasco from IANUA High School with a major in Sustainability Science and Technology participated in the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly 2025, a significant international event held in Vienna from April 27 to May 2, 2025.
In the “Games for Geoscience” session, dedicated to innovative tools for science dissemination, Vannini and Brusasco presented the “Clouded Judgments” project, an educational board game to explore the uncertainty of weather forecasts. The game was developed together with two other IANUA students from the Sustainability Science and Technology major, Noemi Chiara Lertora and Mirko Nardella, working with forecasters and popularizers from the Ligurian Regional Environmental Protection Agency's meteo-hydrological center.
Familiar with the system used in Liguria by ARPAL, IANUA students developed a game course aimed at promoting greater awareness of the inherent forecasting and warning management uncertainty, especially among young people, while providing an engaging educational experience, without losing sight of the entertainment aspect.
