The Hanbury Botanical Gardens are pleased to invite you to an educational meeting on the biocontrol of invasive alien insects, as part of the Hanbury's Blue&Green Symbiosis Project.
Today, protecting our ecosystems and crops requires innovative and environmentally friendly strategies. For this reason, on Wednesday 29 October 2025, experts from UNIGE e IRF Sanremo, will meet in the Sala dei Camini on the second floor of Palazzo Orengo to share knowledge and best practices in this vital field.
The morning session, with presentations from 9:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., will be devoted to theory and will cover crucial topics. We will hear from speakers such as Prof. Stefano Vanin, Dott.ssa Patrizia Martini, Dott.ssa Francesca Boero, Dott. Stefano Ferrari, Prof. DiPiazza and other experts who will address: the crucial importance of insects in terrestrial ecosystems, biocontrol in general and the monitoring of regulated harmful organisms, direct experiences of biological control in the citrus grove of the Hanbury Gardens and the specific monitoring of pests such as Scyphophorus acupunctatus and Xylosandrus sp. pl. in the GBH.
After a free lunch break, the afternoon, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., will be the time to move from theory to action with a themed visit to the Garden. It will be a unique opportunity to see up close the case studies and results of the interventions illustrated during the morning.
Participation is free, but registration is required!
Send an email to gbhelena@unige.it no later than 28 October 2025.
