On the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the launch of the European Ulysseus alliance, of which UniGe is a member, the annual event was held in Košice, Slovakia, to provide an update and reflect on the most current and strategic issues in the university context.
The event provided an important opportunity to take stock of the results achieved, align ongoing efforts and define the roadmap for the coming years, with the shared goal of working towards a more sustainable, innovative and inclusive European university.
The University of Genoa participated in the activities with a delegation of professors, researchers and staff, led by the rector, Federico Delfino, the vice-rector for internationalisation, Renata Paola Dameri, the vice-rector for research, Laura Gaggero, and the rector's delegate for the Erasmus+ European Universities strategic project “ULYSSEUS”, Luis Ramon Vaccaro.
Particular attention was also paid to the themes of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) & Community Engagement (CE), to which Ulysseus dedicates a Work Package coordinated by UniGe, led by Angela Celeste Taramasso, delegate for equal opportunities and inclusion.
On the first day, the Ulysseus Research & Innovation Conference 2025 ‘Navigating Pathways: Digital Transformation of Industry’ was held to explore the digital transformation of industry.
The main day of the summit hosted joint plenary sessions of the main Ulysseus governance bodies, including the boards dedicated to “Joint Structures”, “Education, Research and Innovation”, “Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Community Engagement”, “Mobility & International”, and “Students”.
In addition to these sessions, further internal meetings, workshops and task force sessions were held throughout the week.
Alongside these activities, there was also a space dedicated to students with UlySA Bootcamp 2025: Empowering Students to Shape the Future of Europe, organised by the Ulysseus UlySA student association to promote a sense of belonging to a shared European community and to encourage students to participate actively.
