The European project Buildings and Education in Wood Ecosystem for the New European Bauhaus, funded by the European Union's LIFE Program and coordinated by the University of Genoa, comes to an end with two public events in Liguria: January 15, 2026, in Genoa and January 16, 2026, in Imperia.
In addition to the Imperia event, the project has produced lasting and usable results, including:
- an asynchronous training course in the form of webinars dedicated to sustainable construction, the use of wood, and the principles of the New European Bauhaus, with approximately 1000 views and recognition of professional training credits
- the testing of new training methods through specialized woodworking workshops, interdisciplinary workshops, study visits, and field activities in Italy and abroad
- a pilot project in Emilia-Romagna dedicated to the study and enhancement of the local wood supply chain
- a pilot project in Liguria, a replicable model of participatory redevelopment for social housing.
LIFE BE-WoodEN has been selected by the National Contact Point LIFE Italy as an example of good practice and recommended at European level as a virtuous model for applying the principles of the New European Bauhaus to the design and redevelopment of social spaces.
