The Genoa Climate Challenge 2026 Hackathon has come to a end. The event was organized by the Genoa Blue District in collaboration with the University of Genoa and numerous other local partners, as well as the Climate Change Working Group of the RUS (Italian Network of Universities for Sustainable Development).
The event saw broad and diverse participation on climate change issues, involving many people from outside Genoa as well, who engaged in two days of intense work, collaboration, and discussion.
There was also significant participation from the entire university community—faculty, staff, students, and civil service volunteers—who were involved in all phases of the project: from the preparatory phase for the repository and Academy events, to the working days, where in addition to the presence of UniGe students and faculty in the competing teams, support for the teams was also provided by UniGe Sostenibile and a volunteer from the Universal Civil Service (project “Behind the Scenes of Social Justice: University, Theater, Prison, and Fair Trade”), for activities supporting and developing ideas.
The Hackathon dedicated to schools yielded excellent results in terms of participation and ideas, with the following teams receiving awards:
At the Hackathon for adults, the teams whose ideas were deemed the best by the jury, which included Adriana Del Borghi, Vice Rector for Sustainability at the University of Genoa, were awarded prizes by Silvia Pericu, Genoa City Councilor for the Environment:
