In celebration of Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, UniGe is joining FIAB’s national campaign “Let’s Move for the Earth,” inviting everyone to travel to the University in a sustainable way.
On this special day, you can also take part in one of the many themed events organized by UniGe in collaboration with numerous local partners. Discover them here.
Let’s Move for the Earth!
For Earth Day, FIAB (Italian Federation for the Environment and Bicycles) has launched the national campaign “Let’s Move for the Earth,” which invites everyone to take a simple step: choose sustainable modes of transportation for one day to get to school, work, and daily activities.
The University of Genoa is joining the initiative, in line with its policies on sustainability and sustainable mobility, encouraging the entire university community to participate by choosing to travel via a sustainable mode of transport—whether by bike or scooter, public transit, car-sharing, or even on foot! A small gesture to try changing our mobility habits and reducing car use.
This is a symbolic yet significant gesture that underscores the urgent need to rethink our habits: in 2025, Earth Overshoot Day fell on July 24, demonstrating that we are consuming resources as if we had 1.8 Earths at our disposal. Sustainable mobility is one of the most immediate levers for reducing climate-changing emissions, pollution, and health impacts, with benefits that extend not only to the environment but also to people’s well-being.
