PRINCE Project “Prizes and incentives for changes of methods”

PRINCE “Prizes and incentives for changes of methods” is a project co-funded by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, coordinated by the Municipality of Genoa, and in which the University of Genoa is a partner alongside  AMTGenova ParcheggiGenova Car SharingAlgowatt e Quaeryon.

The project aims to encourage a shift in travel habits towards sustainable solutions.

Thanks to the PRINCE project, which began in 2018, it has been possible to collaborate and network the main players in local public transport in the Municipality of Genoa, with the aim of promoting virtuous behavior in students' daily mobility.

One of the final results was the testing of an app with which, in 2022, university students who used the AMT urban public transport network in Genoa, park-and-ride facilities, Elettra car sharing, and ZENAbyBIKE bike sharing were able to accumulate points that were converted into rewards and benefits that could be used with participating partners. The initiative was experimental and innovative: thanks to Bluetooth technology, the app developed is able to communicate with beacon devices installed on participating means of transport.

The launch of the app for UniGe students took place at Unige Word in May 2022 (see link).

The PRINCE project will continue in 2023 with information sessions and discussions with the student community, such as the one organized in May during the 2023 Sustainable Development Festival, and events to promote sustainable mobility at UniGe, such as the PRINCE Eco-Tour at UniGe organized as part of European Mobility Week 2023.
