How the university community moves

The Home-University Travel Plan (PSCU) is based on a survey of the travel habits of the UniGe population. The data was obtained from an anonymous questionnaire, drawn up in collaboration with the Mobility Working Group of the University Network for Sustainable Development (RUS).

Below is a brief overview of the main results. A detailed analysis of the data is available in the PSCU 2024.

"which mode of trasort do you use to reach the University?"

The responses obtained provide an overview of the mobility capital available to the university population. The majority of respondents own a car. The second most common vehicle owned is a motorbike or scooter of the same type. Lower percentages indicate ownership of bicycles and electric or pedal-assisted bicycles, electric scooters, and electric motorcycles. This classification highlights the issue of the need for parking spaces for these vehicles. The survey focuses on investigating the availability and use of parking spaces within the University of Genoa's properties and aims to highlight any difficulties.

The final analysis to be carried out in this section of the questionnaire concerns the tendency to travel between different University of Genoa campuses during the week. In fact, the responses to this question may give rise to further considerations regarding internal travel within the Genoa area and travel between different campuses located throughout the region. When asked, “Do you travel to another university location during the week?”, 21% of respondents said they made at least one trip; moreover, this occurs at least twice a week - 80% of respondents answered “Yes” to the previous question.
