The PRIN URCA! project – Urban Resilience to Climate Change: to Activate Participatory Mapping and Decision Support Tool for Enhancing Sustainable Urban Drainage, which began in May 2022 and ended in May 2025, involved seven different Italian universities, with the Genoa's Univerisity, led by the Department of Civil, Chemical, and Environmental Engineering (DICCA).
The theme addressed in the project is resilience as a component of urban sustainability with reference to the two SDGs – Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG 13 Climate Action. Urban resilience to climate change was promoted through the widespread implementation of SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems), with the aim of mitigating hydraulic risk, protecting ecosystems, and improving the livability of the urban environment.
Among the various results achieved in the project, one that can summarize the efficiency of the project is the proposal and implementation of tools such as the Policy Brief to increase urban resilience to climate change.
The Policy Brief is a document that summarizes existing knowledge and research on a specific policy.
The Policy Briefs, completed between May and June 2025, can be consulted on the Urca! project website.
